This purpose build road racing chassis #AER971 built by Hess Racing for Buz MsCall's American Equipment Racing. It has run at Watkins Glen and Sears Point with Robby Gordon and Ron Fellows. The car was moved to Bill Davis Racing with Caterpillar sponsorship. Now vintage racing with the Historic Stock Car Racing Group very successfully. Recent engine freshening by Rob Cancilla.

1998 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO #96 ROBBY GORDON CATERPILLAR CAR
This car was built by Banjo's Performance, Arven, North Carolina and sold to Blue Max Racing. It was the last "high snout" rear steer frames they built. It also was the only year that had the "bubble" rear window. It was in road course configuration and later changed after 1988 to oval track specs. The car later ran a few ARCA events with reported great success. While racing with Rusty Wallace and under Kodiac sponsorship, it was driven successfully at Watkins Glen and Riverside venues.
Recent suspension and engine upgrades total $27,000.
